Rotary is a global network of 1.2 million neighbours, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.
Solving real problems takes real commitment and vision. For more than 110 years, Rotary’s people of action have used their passion, energy, and intelligence to take action on sustainable projects. From literacy and peace to water and health, we are always working to better our world, and we stay committed to the end.
We provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through our fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.
What we do
Rotary members believe that we have a shared responsibility to take action on our world’s most persistent issues. Our 35,000+ clubs work together to:
- Promote peace
- Fight disease
- Provide clean water, sanitation, and hygiene
- Save mothers and children
- Support education
- Grow local economies
- Protect the environment
Rotary raises over £700 million annually worldwide. As an example, it has been at the forefront of the fight to eliminate polio, through its End Polio Now campaign, now 99% successful with only pockets of the disease persisting in Pakistan and Afghanistan. In 1985, polio was striking 350,000 people — mainly children — per year. In 2020, there were a mere handful – 140. The fight to eradicate polio in the world goes on in the sure and certain knowledge that Rotary, along with its partners in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) are so very close to eliminating this scourge of a disease.
Locally, the Rotary Club of Linlithgow Grange has raised and disbursed over £400,000 since its founding 30 years ago. Many local and national charitable bodies have benefited from our club’s activities as well as numerous small community groups and individuals.
If you would like to learn more about Rotary and being a Rotarian, please feel free to contact — without obligation — our club secretary, David Timperley on email@example.com .
You will be made very welcome and will be invited to experience some Monday evening meetings where, in normal times, a meal and good craic, followed by an interesting speaker, will ensure an enjoyable experience. We normally meet at Linlithgow Golf Club, although during the COVID pandemic we had reverted, like many, to virtual meetings via Zoom. However, due to the relaxation of restrictions we are now beginning to return to face-to face meetings. While we adjust to post-COVID normality we will be holding some meetings face-to-face at Linlithgow Golf Club and other meetings by Zoom. Follow our website page here where we will give the dates of future meetings and will state whether they will be Zoom or at Linlithgow Golf Club.
You will find that Rotarians are just ordinary people managing to achieve extraordinary things for their community and the world with initiatives such as the Rotary Tree of Light.
